IT HAD gotten colder and darker, but Luca and Sadie were still at the piano. He had Caroline turn on some lights as they discussed the songs in the first act.

Caroline thought they dragged a bit. Sadie liked the slower tempo—why did everything have to sound like a pop song?

Luca finally gave in and sent Caroline in search of a pencil and some paper, because the notes were starting to pile up in his head.

She returned with the class, Nate and Sean in tow.

“I got the stuff. And a bigger audience!”
